"I- I'm uncertain what it is exactly, but I can feel the strands of fate being pulled." She turned to Cali and gave her a sad smile, "I fear this may be out parting Cali." The engineer's eyes grew large and began to moisten. "Please don't say that, why would you say that?"
"Cali, I have the ability to save you and I must try." She replied.*
"There has to be another way!* Cali pleaded.*
"Destiny calls for all of us eventually, and now, I believe it is my time." She said calmly.*
"No!" Cali's eyes were wet and her cheeks flushed.*
"Hey,* let's just find Serra and get the hell out if here." Katarina said. Il'taira took Cali's hand in hers, "Trust me when I tell you, I don't want to go."
"Then... don't." She replied with a sniffle. Il'taira smiled and took her into her arms, kissed her sweetly and embraced her. "I feel I could defy fate with you at my side."*
"I... love you." Cali whispered in a halting voice.*

A while later,* Saphina and Lexi prowled the halls looking for some sign of Serra. They turned a corner and saw a group of mercs around a door laughing quietly and talking. As they approached the mercs laughed and walked away.*
"What the hell was that about?" Lexi asked.*
"I don't know but-" Saphina stopped mid-sentence and listened. She could what sounded like people having sex just on the other side of a large metal door. They listened for a few moments and then just as they stepped away a loud squeal emanated from the behind door.*
"FUCK SERRA! YOU'RE STILL SO FUCKING GOOD!"
Saphina and Lexi looked at each other in shock.*
"What the actual fuck?!" Lexi exclaimed. Saphina just shook her head. "What do we do?"
"We wait." Lexi said as she moved to the opposite side of the hall and leaned against the wall. Saphina joined her. "We're just going to wait?"
"Yeah." Lexi glowered at the door, "I want answers."
Saphina watched as Lexi paced back and forth in front of the door until all noise behind the door ceased. Lexi stopped at started at the door.*
"Lexi, can we please go?" Saphina asked. Lexi started to turn around whenl they could hear voices again, seemingly just on the other side of the door.*
"Someone is coming." Saphina said. Lexi turned back to face the door. It slid open to reveal a disheveled Serra with a naked Devni behind her.*
"See you soon lover." Devni said to her as she backed out. The door closed, Serra sighed and turned around.
"Lexi!" Serra was shocked to see her Ops officer waiting for her. "What are you-?"
"The real question is, what the hell are you doing?!" Lexi asked.*
"It's a long story." Serra replied. "We need to get out of here."
"Yeah, we do." Saphina agreed.*
"What does that mean?" Serra asked.*
"Il'taira says something is very wrong here and she fears..."*
"Fears?... what?"*
"She says she's likely to sacrifice herself to save us during our escape from this place." Saphina explained.*
"Escape?" Serra replied. "I just bought our safe passage."
"Is that what you're going to call what you were doing to your ex?" Lexi asked. Serra blushed, "She gave me an ultimatum... stay here and work for her, or fuck her and leave." Serra explained.*
"That's fucking twisted." Lexi remarked.*
"I know...* come on." Serra said and headed back down the hallway. At the end of the hall, they ran into the rest of the crew. Serra and Katarina locked eyes.*
"Kat!" Serra exclaimed and ran to her. She hugged her tight and whispered two things; "I'm sorry" and "I missed you".*
"I miss you too." Kat kissed her. "Why are you sorry?"
"Okay, let's get the fuck out of here!" Lexi said.*
"Agreed." Kat said, taking Serra's pendik escort hand. The crew rushed through the halls toward the docking bay and the Naginata. Strangely, they did not cross paths with any of the hundreds of mercenaries that occupied the base, but they didn't have time to think about that, now, they just wanted to get away from this place.*
"Something... doesn't feel right." The still weakened Katarina said glancing over her shoulder.*
"Agreed, but we have to-"
The door to the hanger bay slid open and the crew rushed in.*
"Wait!" Serra said, holding her arms to either side, trying to hold back her crew. Near the service vehicles, about 50 feet away and 30 feet from the loading ramp of the Naginata stood a group of mercenaries. The large Grimdrax standing in the center of the group, alongside the gray-skinned woman.*
"The white skinned bitch is mine!" She growled.*
"Fine, I'll kill the rest, starting with the princess." The Grimdrax added. Katarina glared at him, "How dare you! I freed your people!"
"You didn't free anything!" The Grimdrax growled. "You and your family made my people suffer and now you will suffer by my hand!" He ended his statement with a charge directly at the crew. Serra drew her pistol and fired at him. The first shot went wide, but the second and third hit him! One on his shoulder and one in his chest. Both shots ricochet off his armor! Lexi and Saphina dove to the right and opened fire. Lexi's first shot hit the merc in the belly and caused him to stumble. Another dove into cover and returned fire. Cali ducked behind a column and trembled in fear. Il'taira ducked with her, took her face in her hands and smiled softly at her.*
Wait here. She said in Cali's mind. Cali just nodded.*
Il'taira stepped out from behind the column and observed the fray. Katarina and Serra were firing at the still advancing Grimdrax, Lexi and Saphina had taken out two mercs and were continuing to fire at the others. There! She saw the ashen skinned woman glaring right at her.* Il'taira could feel pressure in her skull and knew it was a psykik attack. She focused her mind and advanced forward. One merc turned her gun on Il'taira, but now a dark inky aura surrounded her and the shot "stuck" into the darkness for a moment, then fell harmlessly to the ground. Il'taira narrowed her eyes at the merc who shot at her for a moment. The merc screamed, holding her head she fell to the ground! The ashen skinned woman stepped forward and growled. Il'taira felt the pressure in her mind increase and her vision fade slightly as a black tear fell from her eye.*
The Grimdrax was within feet of Serra and Katarina. Serra ducked under his massive fist as it swung in a large deadly arc, in an attempt to take her head off! Kat screamed a war cry and leapt at him.*
"For the Crimson Empire!"* She collided with him and he staggered a few feet and fell backwards to the ground. He grabbed her torso and began to squeeze. Her gauntleted fists slammed repeatedly into his face. His grip only got tighter. Serra stepped next to him and attempted to stomp on his face. He lashed out with his arm and swatted her away! She tumbled to the ground a few yards away and wasn't moving. Kat's focus went to Serra for just a moment and in that moment the Grimdrax cast her aside. She tumbled to the ground fifteen feet away! Lexi and Saphina turned to fire at him but another merc threw a stun grenade and knocked them both back and dazed them. Katarina was slow to her feet, on all fours, she coughed up blood. She wiped her mouth and slowly got to her feet.*
"I am Kurn..."
"I'll kill you!" The Grimdrax said getting to his feet, face bloody.*
"I am Kurn!" She growled and charged him again. The Grimdrax braced himself for the charge.*
"My rage knows no limits you bitch! I'll tear you apart!"
"I... am... Kurn!!" She screamed.*
The ashen skinned woman continued to press her mind into Il'taira. Cali peaked around the column to see the situation about as bad as it could be.*
"Il'taira, please be careful!" She yelled over the commotion. She did not reply but she stepped forward. The ashen skinned woman had a sudden concerned look on her face. Then her eyes grew large with shock.*
"No!" She said, The Grimdrax turned toward her. Just then, Kat jumped at him again. They struggled to gain control. Kat dropped onto her feet and kicked him in his unarmored mid section. He bucked over enough for her, she responded by driving her knee up and into his nose. He staggered grabbing his nose which poured blood now.*
"Dar'kul, we need to go!" The ashen skinned woman said as she stepped back a pace.*
"No!" The Grimdrax roared. "Not until the princess is dead!"
The grey skinned woman looked on in terror as Il'taira stepped forward. Her eyes bled black tears... her skin, while already very pale, looked as though it were almost translucent! The aura of blackness around her seemed to tighten closely to her body, then, with a blood curdling scream, aydınlı escort the black aura around her exploded outward. It washed over everyone in the bay. The ashen skinned woman looked her in the eyes for a moment then stood upright then collapsed in a heap. The Grimdrax grabbed his head as he fell to the ground. The other mercs having already collapsed, Il'taira fell to her knees breathing heavily.*
"Il'taira!" Cali ran to her side. "Are you okay?"
The Kurn looked up at Cali, her eyes pure black pools. Cali was stunned for a moment, but put her arm around her and helped her to her feet. Kat was at Serra's side helping her up and Saphina and Lexi were shaking off the stun effects. No other words were spoken, the crew hurried, as best as they could, toward the Naginata.*
"Serra!" A voice called out from the entrance to the bay. She turned, being supported by Katarina, as Devni and a large group of her mercenaries stood there. "You're not leaving!"
"I did what you asked of me," she said. Kat looked at her questioning. "Now let us leave!" The crew continued to move toward the Naginata.*
"Tell your friends they are not leaving." Devni said as her allies moved into the bay. "Just leave that bitch here to die and come back to bed."
"Back to bed?" Kat asked quietly.*
"I'll explain later." Serra replied. "Please Devni."
"Sorry StarShine, but this time, I'm not letting you go." She said drawing a pistol from her belt. Il'taira stepped forward and in front of the crew.*
"Il'taira, no!" Cali cried out. Il'taira smiled at her and turned her attention to Devni and the mercs.
"Don't try it you-" Devni's voice was cut short by a scream from Il'taira. A wave of dark energy knocked the mercs and their leader to the ground. Il'taira stayed, focusing her energy to keep the mercs down.*
"Go!" Katarina said, turning back to the ship. The crew raced inside. Cali hesitated at the bottom of the ramp. Kat raced past her, grabbing her arm and pulling her up the ramp.*
"No!" She cried. She noticed the Grimdrax start to get to his feet, overpowering Il'taira's weakening effects. The Naginata's engine roared to life and the ship slowly rose into the air. She reached out a hand to Il'taira who was still faced toward the mercs. She used her power to keep them all in the ground! Just as the ramp began to rise, she saw the Kurn fall to one knee and the Grimdrax advance on her!
"Go back!" Cali cried as the ramp slammed shut and sealed. She ran to the bridge and looked out the side windshield next to Katarina's pilot station.*
"We have to go back!" Cali screamed. "I have to save... her..." her voice failed and she slumped into her seat behind Kat. The ship climbed into the sky toward the artificial atmosphere shielding.*
"Kat, get us the hell out of here!" Serra said. She turned to Cali and gave her a sympathetic look. "I... I'm sorry Cali."*
Cali opened her mouth to scream, but closed it. Her shoulders slumped and she turned away, monitoring the new engine readings.*
"Cali..."
"Jump engine on line Captain." She said curtly. Serra sighed and turned forward. "Alright, once we're clear off atmo, we can-"
Suddenly, the ship jolted hard!
"What the hell?!" Serra said.*
"We've been hit!" Lexi said.*
"Shields!" Serra replied.*
"Shields up."*
The next shot was much more "gentle".
"Whoa! These new power generators automatically pivot the shield density toward incoming shots!" Lexi said.*
"That's great, Kat?"*
"Thirty seconds to jump." She replied.*
"Lex, return fire. Give them a going away gift."*
"On it!" Lexi replied and began to fire at the gun emplacement.*
"Okay, 3 seconds... activating the jump engine!" Kat said, a moment before she activated the jump engine, the ship jostled...
"What was that?" Serra asked.*
"We didn't get hit by anything." Lexi replied. Suddenly Cali sat upright in her seat.*
"It... it can't be!" She leapt from her chair and ran out of the bridge.*
"Cali!" Serra called her.*
"Jump initiated!" Kat said as the ship slid, surprisingly smoothly into jump space. Serra followed Cali off the bridge.*
"Cali! What are you-?" She stopped, shocked at what she saw.*
Cali and Il'taira in an embrace, surrounded by black inky energy! Cali cried uncontrollably while Il'taira held her and stroked her hair.*
"H- how?" Serra asked. Il'taira looked up at the Captain and smiled. Cali attempted to gather herself and turned toward the Captain. "She... she made it!" She declared and broke down crying again.*
"But how?" Serra asked again.*
"I thought I was alone, but after the Naginata began to pull away, I could feel Cali's spirit like a beacon and willed myself to teleport to her."*
"Her spirit? How do you even..."
"Cali and I have forged a bond beyond the physical. Our spirits have become intertwined." She tried to explain.*
"I guess I don't quite..."
"Captain, Il'taira and I are... becoming one." Cali said.*
"How is that-"
Captain, we need you on the bridge.
Serra paused and looked at the two of them a moment, then turned and headed off to the bridge. Cali and Il'taira held each other for a few moments.
